North York Home Addition: Bungalow to Two Storey
A North York wartime bungalow raised to a modern two storey home, with floor to ceiling rear windows over the pool and a full basement below.
The problem
We were referred to a young family in North York who needed the house to work differently. They wanted storage, more bathrooms and bedrooms, a basement they would use and floor to ceiling windows across the rear main floor looking out at their inground pool. The house they had was a wartime bungalow.
The solution
The bungalow became a modern two storey home. The rear of the main floor is now large floor to ceiling windows overlooking the pool, with the kitchen at the back of the house. The main floor is open and airy, with a fireplace as the focal point and a dining island.
Upstairs holds two children's bedrooms, laundry and storage and a primary suite with two separate walk-in closets and a spa-style bathroom. The basement added two bedrooms, a full three piece bathroom, a weight room, a recreation room and an office.
If you are asking whether an addition beats moving, this is the house that answers it.
